GHG inventory (Scopes 1, 2 and 3)

Activity data × emission factor, line by line, summed per scope. Factors come from the country's current rows in the GHG factor table; each saved run stores a snapshot of the factors it used.

Emissions per activity line

Under review
tCO₂e = activity × EF ÷ 1000

Every activity the user enters is multiplied by its factor (kg CO₂e per unit) and turned into tonnes. Blank or zero lines are skipped.

  • activity
    Amount used (litres, kWh, tonnes, km, ₹ crore… per factor row)
    Your data
  • EF
    Emission factor for that activity, from the country's current GHG rows · kg CO₂e / unitValue depends on the activity, sector or product chosen; each comes from the factor table with its source.

Scope 2, location-based

S2 = kWh × EF_grid ÷ 1000

Purchased electricity at the national grid-average factor.

Scope 2, market-based

Under review
S2 = kWh × (100 − RE%) ÷ 100 × EF_residual ÷ 1000   (renewable share counted at 0)

The electricity is split: the share backed by renewable contracts or certificates counts as zero; the rest is charged at the residual-mix factor. At 0% renewable the whole draw is still charged at the residual mix. If the country has no residual-mix row, the grid average is used and the line says so.

Transmission & distribution losses (Scope 3, category 3)

Under review
S3_T&D = kWh × EF_T&D ÷ 1000   (kWh = the electricity entered, unless a separate figure is typed)

Worked out automatically from the electricity line when the user does not enter it separately.

Employee commuting (Scope 3, category 7)

Under review
passenger-km per mode = employees × 2 × one-way km × 220 days × mode share; tCO₂e = p-km × EF_mode ÷ 1000

The commuting helper turns headcount, distance and mode split into passenger-km per mode. Shares adding up to more than 100% are scaled back to 100%.

Scope totals

Under review
S1 = Σ scope-1 lines; S2 = Σ scope-2 lines; S3 = Σ scope-3 lines; total = S1 + S2 + S3

Each line belongs to the scope its factor row is tagged with. Totals are rounded to 4 decimals.

Assumptions

  • GWPs for refrigerants are AR5 values (the factor rows carry them).
  • Spend-based Scope 3 uses one ₹-crore factor for every kind of purchase.
  • Factor snapshot is stored with each saved run, so old reports do not move when a factor is edited.

How to read this page. “Your data” is what you enter or what your organisation has recorded. “Factor table” values come from official publications, each with its source; a “pending review” mark means the figure is still being checked against that source. “Ploxi assumption” is a figure we chose where the standard leaves the choice open.
