EIA screening (Environmental Clearance category)

A rule table, not a calculation: the sector and its size are compared with cut-offs to give Category A, B1, B2 or likely exempt.

Standard
India EIA Notification 2006 as amended (incl. S.O. 1886(E), 20 Apr 2022, and the 2021 buildings memorandum)

Category from size

Under review
size ≥ cutoff_A → A (or B1 for buildings / river valley); cutoff_B1 ≤ size < cutoff_A → B1 (or B2); below → B2 or exempt

Each sized sector reads its cut-offs from the factor table (with built-in defaults if a value is missing). Fixed sectors (nuclear, refineries, airports, TSDF, oil & gas, integrated steel) are always Category A; process industries are always B1.

How to read this page. “Your data” is what you enter or what your organisation has recorded. “Factor table” values come from official publications, each with its source; a “pending review” mark means the figure is still being checked against that source. “Ploxi assumption” is a figure we chose where the standard leaves the choice open.
